It is evident that education and educational institutes has to play a major role in the upliftment of the culture, values, norms and traditions of a country at an era where the unseen foreign hands trying to create an unhealthy competitive market in the economy and trade.
When we look at the history of Dharmaraja, it runs a long way back. This world famous Buddhist Boys’ School was started on the 30th of June 1887 in a hut at the premises of “Natha Devala” and was named as the “Kandy Buddist High School” then. But at present Dharmaraja College Kandy is situated on the top of a 55 acre mountain, with a scenic view of Kandy City. Today we are proud to say that this school is fully equipped with all the facilities that an educational institute should posses for a healthy teaching and learning process, by maintaining a world famous good will, as one of the best boys’ schools in SriLanka.
This school has sheltered dignified personalities such as late president his Excellency William Gopallawa and political leaders like A Rathnayake, A,E,Gunarathne and many professional academics in the fields of Science, Engineering, Medicine, Education ,Art and Media in Sri Lanka as well as beyond the oceans. It is evident that Dharmaraja performs its duties and responsibilities to the best to produce talented citizens of mother Sri Lanka, to face the challenges of the upcoming competitive world.
Further we should salute with gratitude, to the former principals who rendered a great service to uplift the school in numerous ways. Next it is my duty to offer my profound thanks to our present principal Mr. S.M.Keerthirathne for being the shadow behind the strength, which always keeps us going in order to achieve the targets of academic and extra curricular activities.
Finally I would like to say “Good Luck” to the launching of new Web Site and “Thank You” to all the teachers, old boys, parents, friends and well-wishers for extending a helping hand to make this a real success.
